Oh yeah. I am the queen of TMI (too much information) but I will spare you the gory - and believe me, they are gory - details about the why but I will share with you that Alex and I are going to be following the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. Let's just say that ever since I was 4-5 (my Mom can't remember exactly when it started) my gut and I have not really gotten along. Doctor after doctor, test after test, invasive procedure after invasive procedure, and no one can tell me what is going on. Alex has the same problems and I don't want this life for him, so we are forging ahead with the SCD. The good news is that there is a better than 75% chance that after a year we will be able to slowly add foods back in to his diet and eventually he will be symptom free. The bad news is that there is a better than 75% chance that it is too late for me. Luckily, I am ok with that. After you feel this bad for this long, you are ok with whatever will make you feel better. So I am looking forward to the day that we wake up and say we feel good... not just better than usual. (It will have been 30 years for me and 3 for Alex. Our time is long overdue.) As we ease closer to an official diagnosis we are easing into the diet and will go full on 100% when we get back from vacation. That wasn't too much information, right? I did spare you pictures of my plumbing, so that's a good thing.
As always, meals are served with a salad, fruit and vegetables.
And by the way... I am still mad at Punxsutawney Phil. It is currently -2° with a wind chill of -20°. I totally blame that darn groundhog!

I can tell you that my husband who has IBS, eats low carb and feels way way better. When he eats a lot of carbs he can actually feel himself start to get sick and then BAM! (Hope that was not too much info for you!) Anyway, he could not believe the difference when he cut out certain carbs. Good Luck!
I am glad to hear that it helps him. I need all of the encouragement that I can get!
I always say that it feels like I have concrete in my stomach after eating most carbs. Not a good feeling at all!
It's funny because a lot of times we would have steak and risotto or bread and cheese and the next day he would say he had "Steak Belly" or "Cheese Belly" When he got rid of the rice and still ate the steak he doesn't get "steak belly" at all anymore!
How funny! We have code words too. That way Marty can know how I am feeling by what I say.
For the longest time I thought it was the fat content that did it. I stopped eating fat (became a McDougall no fat vegan) and I still felt bad. Better, but still not good, KWIM?
Hopefully, this diet is the key. I am half following it now and feel 85% better, so that is a good sign!
